We are proud to share that Professor Peter Kavsak has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 IFCC Distinguished Award for Contributions to Cardiovascular Diagnostics, sponsored by Hytest. 

The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding scientific contributions to the advancement of cardiovascular diagnostics, particularly through research on cardiac biomarkers. Dr. Kavsak, based at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences in Canada, is internationally recognized for his work in high-sensitivity cardiac troponins and his efforts to improve diagnostic strategies for cardiovascular disease. 

With over 300 peer-reviewed publications, multiple patents, and extensive leadership in clinical implementation, his work has significantly advanced patient care and clinical practice worldwide. Dr. Kavsak has also played a key role in mentoring the next generation of laboratorians and clinicians. 

The award was formally presented at the Opening Ceremony of the XVI EuroMedLab Congress on Sunday, 18 May 2025, in Brussels, Belgium.
